So it seems like it is holding onto old media that doesn't exist on my hard drive (If I look for "mvi_0805" using the Macintosh Finder it doesn't find it either) but it's taking up a lot of space.By now, most people that are interested in Apple and/or video editing have heard about the ongoing criticism towards Apple’s latest professional movie making software, Final Cut Pro X.
The only ones it sees from within Final Cut are the original video files for the projects I'm currently working on. If I go into Final Cut, and on the left pane go to "Updated Projects" (or even just the "Macintosh HD's projects and events") and search for "mvi_0805" (or even just "mvi_") It's not there. If I ask to get info for the highlighted one from the picture in the previous post, the location says "Macintosh HD->Users->Dan King->Movies->Macintosh HD's projects and events->Updated Projects->Original Media". But for some reason those libraries are still showing them in that picture from the previous post. So as far as I know all those original video files are gone since I had deleted the folders they were in after final render. Once the project is done I'll delete the event, and the project from within Final Cut, and I'll delete the folder that had all the original video files outside Final cut just dragging that folder to the trash and emptying it. I'll create an event, and I'll import the media to that event (which is the folder on my hard drive that I have the original video files in). Ill open FInal Cut, create a project for it. I'll bring in all my video files there for that project. When I mentioned I deleted those files, I mean I deleted them off my hard drive from the original location and outside of Final Cut.įor example I'll have a folder on my hard drive for a project.
